It's nice to feel so appreciated

Abby: "The baby can't have my daddy when she comes out. She can have you because she'll need her mommy, but Daddy is my daddy. She can't have him."
Me: "But don't you think your baby sister will want a daddy too? Maybe you could share Dad."
Abby: "Ummm...no please. He's my daddy. But she can have you!"

I guess it's nice to be informed ahead of time.

Ha! No way! Abby- you little stinker! Tell your mommy that the baby can't have her, either! She'll feel much better if you hog both your parents. ;D

LOL. Yep, sounds familiar to me. I definitely had those moments with my first when he was that age. I often wondered why Marshall seemed to get all the glory. But we've been watching Bambi lately, and I think they're starting to appreciate mom in a new way. Caitlin will come up to me randomly and say "But mommy, you didn't die. No, you didn't die." But she's happy about it. So that's nice.

See I think you aren't giving her credit for being so smart. I think she already knows that since the baby is dependent on you for life at this point, that there is a special bond and requirement for the next few months. So Abby knows that she can't hog you without risk to the baby, but she can hog Dad.
