WHY?

I'm wondering if anyone else out there is experiencing the same thing I am. My three-year-old is asking why alllll the time. She's been doing this for a while, but her questions are getting a little more...cryptic...I guess you could say. Please tell me how to answer these questions:
-"Why is she Molly?"
-"Why are these M&M's?"
-"Why is this a robe?"
-"Why is this the store?"
-"Why is she not Mary Poppins?"
Before Abby started asking all these stupid questions, I wanted to take a page from my sister's book and try to answer all my kids' questions as honestly and thoroughly as I could. But now I really believe Abby is asking "WHY??" purely out of habit. I started just ignoring her "why" questions and I discovered she doesn't even wait for an answer. I could have saved myself lots of "just because that's what it is" answers if I had discovered this sooner. And honestly, when these questions come up, I find myself racking my brain for a real, honest and thoughtful answer because I really though she wanted to know. In case you're wondering, it's aggravating.

That picture's awesome. And yes, I feel your pain. Zach's why questions lately have to do with food though.
"Why are you eating so much?"
"Why are you having two cookies?"
"Why are you eating all of it?"

And I really don't eat all that much. Really! He's just got this weird thing with food. Today I'd had it and I just rolled my eyes and said "Because!!"

You just want people to think you have a fireplace.

Maybe she's trying to have a conversation that will involve an adult, and that's the only way she knows how. Mia does the same thing when she's bored. Which is most of the time.

Mary Poppins- haha!
